Vehicle Description

2002, this Dodge Viper GTS was modified with an Autoform Street Coupe package, including a redesigned hood, front fascia, hood scoop, side skirts, rear valance, and raised rear spoiler. Autoform also supplied 18-inch BBS LM wheels and a Corsa exhaust system. The car was subsequently sent to Hennessey Motorsports for a 650R engine upgrade, producing 558 horsepower and 565 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

The car is finished in Viper Red with silver stripes and features custom two-tone black-and-red leather upholstery. Equipment includes an Alpine stereo, power windows, and air conditioning. The car was initially sent to Hennessey for a complete conversion, but due to unforeseen circumstances, only the engine and interior conversions had been completed by May 2002.

In August 2002, Autoform was commissioned to provide its Street Coupe bodywork. The Street Coupe was developed by Autoform president Steve Dreyer in collaboration with Roy Sjoberg, who played a major role in the development of the Chrysler Viper program in the 1990s and was known as the “Father of the Viper.”

The package included a Venom Aero front bumper cover, front splitter, hood with scoop, roof scoop, reshaped side skirts, revised rear quarters, a diffuser valance, and a raised, adjustable rear wing. The bodywork is finished in Viper Red with silver stripes. The car is reportedly one of only seven Vipers built with this bodywork.

Autoform also supplied 18-inch BBS LM wheels fitted with Michelin tires measuring 275/35 at the front and 335/30 at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS, which became available on the Viper beginning with the 2001 model year.

Hennessey supplied two-tone Connolly leather upholstery featuring Hennessey logos. Collectors Choice Ltd. Series IIG tapestry floor mats and a trunk mat, both featuring red Viper logos, were also installed. An Alpine head unit is mounted in the center console above the controls for the power windows and air conditioning.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,000-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage are mounted at the top of the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows approximately 2,600 miles.

Hennessey’s 650R upgrade for the 8.0-liter V10 engine included boring and stroking the block to increase displacement to 8.4 liters, along with forged connecting rods, aluminum pistons, and ported and polished cylinder heads.

Hennessey claimed that the 650R upgrade produced a peak output of 670 horsepower and 673 lb-ft of torque when new, measured at the flywheel. The dynamometer report provided for this car, however, recorded 558 horsepower and 565 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Autoform also supplied the Corsa cat-back exhaust system.
